Job Title: Project Engineer (PE) - Electrical Focus

Job Specifics:

Seeking a candidate to serve as a Project Engineer with an emphasis on electrical engineering and a proven record of completed electrical projects. The resource should have experience organizing, coordinating, and overseeing engineering design and be capable of compiling technical documentation, scopes, and project support materials. A key responsibility will be acting as the owner's representative for all engineering aspects of assigned projects, applying electrical engineering principles to improve performance and reliability in a hydro plant environment. Duties include supervising work, overseeing installation and construction, and understanding maintenance of electrical systems.

Minimum Requirements:




  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering required



  • Minimum 10 years of practical experience in hydro power plants




Work Schedule:




  • Base schedule: 40 hours/week



  • Opportunities for overtime depending on work needs and approval




Per Diem:




  • Available if over 50 miles from primary residence, per standard GSA CONUS rates



  • Reporting location: Bath County Power Station (Warm Springs, VA)




Job Summary:

The Project Engineer serves as the technical coordinator for all engineering tasks on assigned projects. This individual acts as the engineering subject matter expert (SME) during RFP and bid reviews and supports the Project Leader/Project Manager with engineering-related coordination.

Responsibilities:




  • Ensure all projects prioritize safety and environmental compliance



  • Work with project leadership to define and develop scopes of work, including for contracted Owner's Engineers (OE)



  • Interface with internal departments and station management to support project development



  • Assist with RFP and bid review processes



  • Develop engineering specifications for RFPs and revise existing guidance



  • Manage RFIs on behalf of the project leadership



  • Review OE development data, site design, land use, and energy performance



  • Support EPC bid process: coordinate information, review submittals, assess deviations, and confirm technical design



  • Develop and review bid evaluation matrices and aid in bidder selection



  • Manage technical troubleshooting and communication between OE, EPC, and project stakeholders



  • Coordinate reviews with internal engineering counterparts



  • Monitor and ensure contractual deliverables and engineering compliance in the field



  • Provide technical support during startup and commissioning



  • Perform additional tasks as directed by project leadership




Qualifications & Experience:




  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule engineering tasks



  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills



  • Ability to manage engineering performance to meet requirements and deadlines



  • Proficiency in problem-solving and attention to detail



  • Experience reviewing construction specs and verifying against actual work



  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and prepare clear reports



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)



  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering required



  • Minimum 10 years of hydro plant engineering experience
