As part of this strategic integration, Boynton Health is pleased to announce the creation of several Mental Health Clinical Manager roles, who will provide strategic leadership to designated mental health service lines. The Clinical Manager, Training and Testing plays a key role in ensuring students have access to high-quality mental health care and that mental health staff are supported through strong leadership, infrastructure, and vision.

General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Clinical Manager of Training and Testing provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Training and Testing program, ensuring its effectiveness, growth, and alignment with the broader mission of Boynton Health. In collaboration with the Director of Mental Health and Counseling, this role drives the program's development by enhancing clinical training infrastructure, advancing educational innovation, and cultivating strategic partnerships. The Clinical Manager also delivers direct clinical services to eligible University of Minnesota students and serves as the primary liaison for maintaining and advancing accreditation through the American Psychological Association (APA). Additionally, this leader champions an inclusive, psychologically safe work environment by fostering open communication, modeling equity-driven practices, and proactively addressing team concerns to promote a culture of trust and accountability.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

Leadership Responsibilities (25%):

  • Provides strategic leadership and mentoring to clinical staff engaged in training delivery, ensuring excellence in trainee development and alignment with the program's educational mission.

  • Leads the design and implementation of program policies and procedures, ensuring the Training and Testing program operates in accordance with ethical standards, evidence-based practices, and regulatory compliance at the institutional, state, and federal levels.

  • Utilizes data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate service utilization and program outcomes, identifying trends and opportunities to drive strategic growth and continuous improvement of the Training and Testing program.

  • Advises senior leadership by developing evidence-informed recommendations to strengthen the program's structure, scalability, and long-term sustainability in alignment with Boynton Health's mental health strategic priorities.

  • Ensures delivery of high-quality, efficient clinical training services, optimizing workflows and standardizing practices to meet the evolving needs of trainees and student clients.

  • Leads purposeful team meetings, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability for training excellence and operational performance.

  • Oversees onboarding and role readiness for new staff, delivering targeted orientation, training, and consultation to ensure seamless integration and alignment with the program's goals and values.

  • Partners with the Operations Team to implement system-wide improvements, applying continuous quality improvement (CQI) frameworks to enhance service consistency, clinical learning environments, and operational impact.

  • Drives communication strategies to increase awareness and utilization of Training and Testing services, promoting access through targeted outreach and internal engagement across departments.

  • Serves as a key representative for the Training and Testing program, actively contributing to institutional workgroups, strategic planning sessions, and cross-functional initiatives to advance the quality and integration of clinical services across the organization.

Clinical Responsibilities (75%):

  • Provide scheduled in-person and virtual, individual, and group mental health and counseling services to eligible University of Minnesota students.
  • Facilitate referrals to on- and off-campus supportive services, including academic departments, university support services, and community mental health care (i.e., specialized services for higher-level care needs).
  • Assess risk and safety, and provide immediate referrals and access to services as appropriate, such as urgent counseling.
  • Provide backup urgent/crisis counseling coverage to UMN students during regular clinic hours via phone, telehealth, and in-person in the clinic, depending on the clinic's needs.
  • Coordinate services with campus partners (e.g., UMN Care Team, BCT, DRC, ISSS, UMPD) as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical supervision and/or participate in training programs for psychology and social work practicum students.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful professional team environment where concerns can be addressed effectively.
  • Participate in any needed campus-wide response that requires mental health support.
  • Participate in a rotation of end-of-day coverage that may go beyond clinic hours to assist with urgent clinical needs.
  • Provides after-hours on-call mental health crisis support as needed

This position also performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS plus at least eight years of experience, or an advanced degree plus at least five years of experience, or a terminal degree plus at least two years of experience.
  • One year of experience, which allows for independent licensure as a mental health therapist in Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and training
  • 5 years or more of clinical experience in providing short-term and/or specialized mental health services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD and LP or PsyD and LP from an APA-accredited doctoral program
  • Experience in providing training and supervision to doctoral and master's level trainees
  • 2 years or more of supervisory experience over mental health professionals.
  • Experience working with individuals with a broad range of acuity needs.
  • Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed, culturally responsive care
  • Familiarity with University of Minnesota and community resources and procedures.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $100,000 - $115,000/year depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
