Sr. Associate, Content Specialist (Hybrid)

Are you a detail-obsessed executor with a creative eye and a passion for storytelling through design and digital platforms? Do you love translating strategic messages into compelling visual and written content, and ensuring it lands flawlessly across multiple internal channels? If so, we're looking for you.

We're seeking a cross-functional partner to provide horizontal support across Card Communications - working closely with teams focused on associate experience and top-of-house business priorities. You'll help bring campaigns to life by producing engaging content, optimizing channel strategies, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.

You'll serve as a force multiplier - ensuring messages not only look great but land well across newsletters, Slack, digital screens, email, video, and intranet platforms.

To deliver these campaigns, you will partner closely with:

  • Our Creative & Top of House team to help elevate our stories and campaigns through digital and multimedia platforms, including a robust video program

  • Our Executive Communicators to uncover and build out business segment stories that can be elevated into Card-wide news channels

  • Numerous Card stakeholder teams including Chiefs of Staff, HR and others to better understand the communication needs of our associates so that you can curate the most appropriate content and stories for them

You will have the opportunity to frequently see your work showcased to an internal audience of more than 20,000 associates while working side-by-side with smart, talented people who will challenge you to grow and excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute visual (video, digital graphics, print and digital signage, etc.) and written content across all internal communications channels (email, intranet, Slack, newsletters, digital and print signage, etc.), ensuring consistent look, feel, tone, and performance.

  • Write, edit, and visually format internal communications content for maximum clarity, engagement, and alignment with brand voice.

  • Partner with the Creative & Design team to translate campaign concepts into ready-to-publish visual assets and templates.

  • Act as a liaison between creative, content, and communications strategists, ensuring end-to-end campaign consistency and cohesion.

  • Maintain and improve channel templates, tools, and publishing cadences, ensuring scalability and operational excellence.

  • Serve as production lead for recurring publications like newsletters (e.g. Card Refresh, People Leader Newsletter) and ad-hoc campaign emails.

  • Support measurement and insights gathering through tracking tools and dashboards, surfacing opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Maintain documentation of channel best practices, guidelines, and timelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 2 years of experience in internal communications, content creation, multimedia design, marketing operations, social media management.

  • At least 1 year of experience managing content in digital platforms (CMS tools, email campaign tools, Slack)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Graphic Design or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in communications or channel operations

  • 2 years of experience in the Adobe Creative Suite with proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign, or similar tools used to execute design and video needs

  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS, CMS platforms, or video editing tools a plus

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, with a focus on Google Sheets and Google Slides; ability to craft compelling presentations to influence and gain alignment from stakeholders.

  • Willingness to work across the team as a collaborative liaison

  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills

  • Experience managing editorial calendars and campaign workflows

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $86,300 - $98,400 for Sr. Communications Associate Richmond, VA: $78,400 - $89,500 for Sr. Communications Associate

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
