About the Job

This person will act as a teaching assistant on the course NSC 5461 Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience.

This job would be in addition to the normal employment and academic requirements of the student's graduate program. Employment in this position would not reduce the work required as part of the graduate program.

Job Responsibilities:

Weekly Review Sessions - Hours per Week 2

Lead Journal Discussions - Hours Per Week 2.5

Coordinate Meeting of Students and Faculty - Hours per Week .25

Help with Canvas Changes - Hours per Week .25

The effort dedicated to each of these is intended as an estimate and may vary depending on the
week but would not exceed the 5 hrs/wk

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Current PhD candidate (must have advanced to candidacy by passing preliminary exams)
* Good academic standing
* Must have taken NSC 5461 and received a grade of B+ or better
* Must be organized, accurate, and detail-oriented
* Skilled at identifying gaps in understanding and tailoring explanations to bridge them effectively
* Good communication and presentation skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Powerpoint), Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Zoom

Preferred Qualification :
* Experience using Canvas
* Independent, self-directed worker.

About the Department

The Department of Neuroscience is committed to providing excellence in research, education, and public service. The Department of Neuroscience is part of the University of Minnesota's Medical School. The Medical School and related healthcare professional schools are grouped under the Academic Health Center.

  1. Conduct outstanding neuroscience research.
  2. Be an educational resource to the Medical School and the University by providing neuroscience education to undergraduate, medical, dental, graduate, and post-graduate students.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.95
