Job Summary:

The Assistant Women's Soccer Coach reports to the Head Women's Soccer Coach and assists in all aspects related to the Women's Soccer program.

This is a full-time benefits eligible appointment that is renewable on a contract basis.

*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *

Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coaching
    • Assist the head coach in coaching and training the Women's Soccer team throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate by the head coach.
    • Assist the head coach in managing the health of team culture.
    • Assist with video editing system for team analysis and scouting.
    • Assist in scouting of opponents.
    • Manage team heart rate monitor systems and student-athlete recovery.
  • Administrative
    • Duties include but are not limited to: Organization for home games, promoting Northwestern Women's soccer in local community, coordinating film exchanges, compliance related administration for current team and recruiting, coordinating team housing and meals on campus and when traveling, maintain database for current student-athletes and prospective student-athletes, maintain ledger for budget expenditures, and community service.
  • Recruiting
    • Duties include but are not limited to: identify and correspond with qualified prospective student-athletes, organize recruiting calendar events, track the status of recruited prospects, maintain recruiting database (Currently Arms), schedule on-campus visits and create itineraries, conduct campus tours, establish and maintain all files on prospective student-athletes.
    • Develop strong relationships and communicate regularly with club and high school coaches.
  • Other
    • Attend meetings, conferences, training sessions, community service events, etc. as required.
    • Report issues and concerns to the Head Coach and/or Sport Administrator and faithfully and diligently carry out other Department related duties as assigned.
    • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports in the Intercollegiate and Recreational programs.
    • Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
    • Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be meticulous and organized.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University.
  • Familiarity with technology in the following areas preferred: use of Mac computers, Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word, recruiting database systems, video editing and tagging systems, and heart rate monitoring system.
  • Willingness and ability to work, as well as travel, mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment and manage stressful situations
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact and establish engaging relationships with a wide variety of constituents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience coaching soccer required; experience as a student-athlete or coach at the Division I level preferred

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Preferred goalkeeping specialist with a strong background in collegiate goalkeeping, OR for a field coach that has some comfort working with goalkeepers

Target hiring range for this position will be between $40,000 to $56,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
