Wages and Benefits

$26.44 - $28.84 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience; Generous paid time off (PTO), plus 12 paid holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and long-term disability insurance. PCYC sponsors a retirement plan with 25% match on your first 4% and immediate vesting.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as PCYC's Technical Production Manager provides an opportunity to lead and support high-quality productions while mentoring youth, and will include the following:



  • Collaboration with the Director of the Capri and Operations Manager to optimize technical production for the Capri Theater venue, safeguarding PCYC's investment.
  • Managing the effective operation of lighting, sound, and projection systems in accordance with industry standards.
  • Leading and instructing the Capri production team on proper and efficient use of all technical systems.
  • Overseeing all technical production for both the Capri Theater and The Paradise event space.
  • Providing technical support and supervision for Capri productions, bookings, and PCYC programs in coordination with the Director and Operations Manager.
  • Building and implementing technical packages tailored to each event or production, based on needs communicated by the Booking and Office Manager.
  • Communicating directly with clients to identify and meet technical requirements for events.
  • Hiring and supervising qualified operators for sound, projection, and lighting systems to ensure safe and optimal equipment use.
  • Assisting with technical planning and implementation for special events such as PCYC's Gala.
  • Serving as a mentor and teacher in Capri youth arts programming and apprentice programs, advancing youth career pathways in the arts.
  • Instructing and supervising youth in the safe use of all theater systems, including lighting, sound, and projection.


Who You Are



  • You hold a BA or a two-year degree with at least five years' experience in technical production or production management.
  • You have leadership and teaching experience (preferred).
  • You possess strong knowledge of theater tech, including lighting, sound, projection, rigging, and stagecraft.
  • You are culturally competent and able to work with diverse communities.
  • You bring strong client service skills and the ability to handle the pressures of event production.
  • You are confident in problem solving and clear in decision making.
  • You demonstrate ability to instruct and supervise safe use of complex technical equipment.
  • You are certified in CPR and First Aid (or willing to be trained).
  • You can develop rapport with students and effectively delegate tasks.
  • You manage multiple tasks and competing priorities with ease.
  • You build productive relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PCYC's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
