Description
We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician Lead 3 to join our team at Doheny Eye Center Pasadena.
You will provide technical ophthalmic and administrative assistance to the medical staff and reports directly to the Practice Manager. The Ophthalmic Tech Lead provides leadership and is the central point for overseeing patient care/patient flow the Pasadena clinics by coordinating the ophthalmic support staff including technicians, imagers, hospital ophthalmic assistants, residents, and fellows. Provide technical assistance to physicians and back up imaging staff, as needed. Train new staff and physicians to be as accurate and efficient as possible.
Salary Range: $40.02-52.79 Hourly
This position may require travel to multiple UCLA Health clinic.
Qualifications

Required:


  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience providing technical support in an ophthalmology practice.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience supervising staff.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
  • Ability to travel between Doheny Satellites.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology of the visual systems helpful
  • Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring, and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent people skills: to have effective interactions, while maintaining comfortable and cooperative working relationships with physicians, patients, and peers.
  • Ability to work on a self- directed basis with limited supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize activities with varying time sensitivities.
  • Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Responsible and detailed-oriented.
  • Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize clinic efficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy workload.
  • Knowledge of various ophthalmic clinical protocols.
  • Knowledge in basic ophthalmic treatments, medical emergencies, and other various ophthalmic clinical protocols.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and their corresponding sterilization / high level disinfection techniques.
  • Ability to adapt between multispecialty services.
  • Ability to be flexible with requests from physicians, managers, and staff.
  • Ability to organize workload, prioritize duties & tasks, with attention to time sensitive items & crucial deadlines to maximize clinic efficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy clinic.
  • Ability to work as a team member or independently in a busy ophthalmic setting, with initiative on a self-directed basis, with limited supervision at times.
  • Ability to follow through on tasks to completion.
  • Ability to convey information concisely, clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure grammatically correct and factual correspondence.

Preferred:


  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience in teaching facility.
