HJF is seeking an Intern whose work will involve performance of a variety of laboratory tasks responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team.

This position will be in support of the Snow laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.

The role supports the "Temporal and Metabolic Regulation of Restimulation-Induced Cell Death (RICD) in Human T Cells" project. The research focuses on defining molecular mechanisms that distinguish TCR signaling for T cell survival versus death, aiming to elucidate their role in maintaining immune homeostasis.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. • Assists in assembling equipment and in preparing materials for experiments.
• Maintains and provides custodial care for laboratory specimens, equipment, supplies, and glassware.
• Will be supporting western blotting, flow cytometry, and molecular biology lab work.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Assists in conducting semi-routine experiments and analyses.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required, some course work towards a 4 year degree preferred.
• Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Molecular biology experience preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Physical Capabilities

• Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

• This position will take place primarily in a lab setting.

Compensation

• The hourly pay range for this position is $17.75-$18.25. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
