Job Description

Overview of the Position:


The Quality Engineer is a key driver of the Company's continuous improvement program, utilizing tools such as, pFMEAs, KPIs, and Kaizen. This candidate will also have a strong background in GD&T and inspection methods and be able to create inspection plans from drawings. Assess suppliers to ensure Quality Assurance compliance. Lastly, the candidate will evaluate the Company's QMS and all its core processes for AS9100 conformance.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Required to use and understand control plans, pFMEA, PEARs, and other forms of process control to ensure product quality.
  • Write and review dispositions for nonconforming materials.
  • Review customer contracts for quality requirements for purchasing flow downs, quality clauses, engineering requirements and specifications.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and product fabrication drawings and advises how these can be improved to reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Approve new and revised drawings on behalf of the Quality Department.
  • Respond to corrective action requests from customers including containment, corrective action planning, and verification.
  • Facilitate internal audit program by helping auditors and auditees with writing and responding to the CARs which are generated through the internal audit process.
  • First article inspections and writing first article inspection reports, including compiling all supporting documentation i.e., material and process certs, manufacturer's certs, etc.
  • Coordinate with customer QARs and DCMA inspectors to perform part/kit presentations for customer's buy off.
  • Participate in QMS revisions and work instruction updates when needed.
  • Contribute to inspection plans, i.e. inspection methods and samplings plans.
  • Maintain and manage the approved supplier list.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on Quality audits and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Ability to read complex mechanical drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
  • Understanding of the proper uses and limitations of inspection tooling and gages.
  • Perform statistical analysis.
  • Ability to use and present information by use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook or related programs.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE), Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, six-sigma black belt preferred.
  • Understanding of AS9100 Quality Systems requirements and application to the QMS.
  • Knowledge of FAR and DFAR requirements.
  • Commitment to expand your role, be free with helping and training others in your expertise, fill in where and when necessary, and add to an overall culture of comradery and growth.
