Job Overview

Perform business analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining to create high quality reports to be used for operational and executive level decision making in support of graduate education and research.



This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement. From time to time, the needs of the University may require this position to be present onsite for a specific workday(s) or the standard workweek.

Essential Functions

  • Determine best practices and develop actionable data-driven insights and recommendations to support the organizational decision-making process. May be requested to create executive summaries, executive briefings and benchmark reports.
  • Work with departments to define business problems and questions; perform analysis. Provide technical writing support.
  • Collaborate with data architect or application specialists to identify the data sources required to support an analytical project or development of a complex report.
  • Research, collect, develop, and implement data analysis for gap, competition landscape, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Utilize ETL tools to automate standard reporting.
  • Evaluate variousdata sets, identify new types of data and data sources to determine patterns; synthesize data into meaningful metrics and numbers; monitor data quality, identify inconsistencies, and develop recommendations to optimize business processes and performance.
  • Develop load plans using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), or similar program, to quickly demonstrate new concepts, reports and dashboards; utilize reporting tools (i.e. OBIEE/OBIA) to build reports and dashboards.
  • May create and maintain dashboards in Tableau oe equivalent data visualization software to solve business problems.
  • May monitor fund balances and budget reporting. May coordinate with department, technical teams, business divisions, and faculty for funding opportunities, notifying management and relevant faculty.
  • May maintain databases for analyzing sponsored research productivity.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Coordination, collection and submission of various external surveys, including: NSF NIH survey, GSS and CGS-GRE.
  • Coordination, collection and reporting of various internal surveys, including: graduating exit student surveys, others as needed.
  • Data contributor to Academic Unit Reviews, and other ad-hoc projects
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree involving statistical analysis, scientific method, and survey research, such as Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Social Sciences or other similar disciplines.

Required Experience

At least three (3) years of experience in data analysis, including the management of data set and the generation of reports from large databases.


Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization experience
  • Experience with MS Power BI
