Payroll Manager: This is where you come in.

We're seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee all payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with federal and state regulations. This role leads and mentors the payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and audit readiness. The Payroll Manager will manage payroll documentation, validate all payroll-related data and reports, and uphold the standards established by MMFS executive leadership. As a key leader, this person will guide and develop Payroll Specialists while driving efficient, compliant, and high-quality payroll processing and reporting.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Provide clear leadership, strategic direction, and consistent performance management for the Payroll Specialists.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely submission of all federal and state tax deposits, along with required reporting.
  • Oversee all union payroll processes, including complex pay calculations, benefits administration, and reporting within GP (Great Plains).
  • Maintain full compliance by preparing and delivering documentation for annual audits and union audits.
  • Manage prevailing wage requirements, including certified payroll reporting and the preparation of Intents/Affidavits.
  • Review, verify, and approve all payroll reports to guarantee data integrity, adherence to internal standards, and compliance with external regulations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to refine and implement payroll policies and procedures that align with company objectives.

The Payroll Manager - reporting to Jennifer Richmond, Controller - is a key member of our collaborative finance team supporting a rapidly growing business. This high-impact, high-visibility role partners across departments and organizational levels to drive operational excellence, with particular importance on healthcare-related projects and initiatives.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong background in union payroll and prevailing wage reporting (highly preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal payroll tax regulations and audit requirements.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.

Compensation: $115,000 to $130,000 Annually
