The Opportunity

The Scholarly Communication Specialist works with Hunt and Hazy librarians to support open access and open publication and enhance discovery and delivery of Embry-Riddle's scholarship, creative works, data, and more. This position helps to support the open access repositories, researcher information portal, and open publishing platform maintained by the department, with a focus on technical workflows, data quality, and support materials for end users. This position also supervises 1-2 student workers who support the Scholarly Communication department, coordinating student projects and providing training as needed.

The successful candidate will join the Hunt Library https://huntlibrary.erau.edu/, serving the Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Worldwide Campuses for online students. Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus an additional 2 years of experience in libraries and/or higher education
  • Experience with vendor-supported software and enterprise-wide systems, preferably repository or database systems
  • Experience with web development or basic code to support workflows
  • Experience with collaborative teams and cross-unit support
  • Experience training non-technical users

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of open access and academic research processes
  • Experience with Elsevier Products, particularly Digital Commons, Digital Commons/Mendeley Data, Pure, or Pressbooks/Wordpress
  • Experience with enhancing or supporting digital access, discovery, and accessibility
  • Experience with ExLibris systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains learning and how-to materials related to Scholarly Communication applications
  • Maintains and develops technical workflows for Scholarly Communication applications to support account access, uploading content, ongoing feature enhancements, and data quality
  • Coordinates troubleshooting requests, statistics, and tickets with application vendors
  • Serves as liaison between Scholarly Communications, the Library Systems & Technology department, and university IT
  • Supervises 1-2 student workers who assist with data entry, technical projects, and general departmental support.
