Commercial HVAC-R Service Technician

Position Summary:
Schwickert's Tecta America is seeking a motivated an professional Commercial HVAC-R Service Technician to launch and grow our HVAC Service presence in the Lawrence, KS area. This role requires a strong desire for career growth and leadership responsibility while understanding the importance of starting with the work, earning trust with customers, delivering high quality results, and building relationships from the ground up.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR UP TO A $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS!

Starting pay ranges from $38-$50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform commercial HVAC-R service, maintenance, and repairs independently.
  • Sell and manage Planned Service Agreements with commercial customers.
  • Manage all service administration tasks:
    • Prepare HVAC Tracker reports
    • Submit accurate and timely invoicing
    • Track service activity in HVAC Tracker or similar platforms
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with internal teams, including project managers, coordinators, and leadership.
  • Provide timely feedback to customers on findings, repairs, and recommended solutions.
  • Assist in developing and growing a customer base in the Lawrence, KS market. Knowledge of Lawrence and the surrounding area is preferred but not required.
  • Collaborate with leadership on future staffing needs as the business grows.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of commercial HVAC-R service experience required.
  • Installation experience preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong administrative skills-able to handle documentation, reporting, invoicing, and follow-up.
  • Sales aptitude with the ability to communicate value to customers and close on Planned Service Agreements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire and ability to grow into a leadership role over time.
  • EPA Certification required; additional certifications a plus.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
