The Alterations Project Coordinator will evaluate all Duncan Aviation alterations in partnership with the Sales team, Quality, Engineering, Production, Project Managers, Certification Coordinators and ODA/FAA. This person will ensure that each alteration project will have a plan to include an appropriate/accurate return to service path and the path is clearly communicated. In addition, the Alterations Project Coordinator will demonstrate a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction, while consistently maintaining a positive attitude, using timely and effective communication. The Alterations Project Coordinator will lead by example, fostering a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement; demonstrating initiative, accountability and attention to detail; and projecting a professional image consistent with the company's mission and goals. Must have and use strong interpersonal skills when necessary to encourage standard procedures and provide leadership with all team members. Essential Job Functions
- Assist with the evaluation of alteration quote requests, sales proposals, service plans, as well as change order request to ensure there is a comprehensive return to service path. Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Production and Certification teams to ensure each alteration has an appropriate/accurate return to service path.
- Develops and controls the Company Alteration Plans for all Aircraft Alteration projects. This Company Alteration Plan will include the flow, who, what, when and how the plan will be completed. Communication to all involved is paramount with any plan involving any Alteration completed by one or multiple shops, different quality personnel, return-to-service documentation, and airworthiness from pre-planning to delivery. This plan must ensure that all alterations are compatible with the existing aircraft configuration and/or other alterations being performed concurrently during the completion of the work scope.
- On STC/MRA projects, the Alterations Project Coordinator shall work with Certification Coordinators assigned to the project. Coordinate with the Certification Coordinators for any changes and update the Company Alteration plan as necessary. If the updated plan changes the return to service (RTS) path the APC must inform the Project Manager of those changes.
- Updates the Correction Action Column for each alteration and denotes in the work order the accurate return to service path by using the Snip-It as required to match the plan such as:
- Major Alteration-STC (AS400 Snip-it ID 7766)
- Major Alteration-MRA (AS400 Snip-it ID 7282)
- Minor Alteration (AS400 Snit-it ID 6654)
- For Minor Alterations: Assist production with the support data needed to complete the alteration, (i.e. access to previous approved data, accessible engineering data, standards, and coordinating engineering support if needed to collect necessary data).
- Must accurately provide communication with Project Manager, Engineering, Certification Coordinators, Production shops, Quality, and the ODA to the contents and any changes of the plan. This will include an Assessment of compliance requirements for certification activities on large complex projects related to conformity.
- Coordinate and direct personnel in the issuance of standard airworthiness certificates for imports, issuance of export certificate of airworthiness, and issuance of special flight authorizations.
- Teaches and mentors the process, needs, requirements, and leadership demands for the modification and certification type projects.
- Assist with Return to Service documentation and reference data to provide production with clear return to service terminology and data as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates:FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and/or Powerplant rating or Repairman's Certificate. Inspector Authorization preferred; meets the Qualified Inspector requirements.
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; occasional travel as required
- Physical: Reads small print; repetitive motion; tolerates sitting.
- Environmental: Tolerates working in noisy environments
Education and Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Business and General Aviation aircraft modifications.
- Knowledgeable in the return to service requirements as related to aircraft modifications including STC, MRA and Minor Alterations. (as resulting in the Return to Service methods)
- Fluent (Knowledgeable) in the FAA Rules and Regulation as it applies to Alterations
- Perceptive to the innerworkings of Alteration as applied to Aircraft systems and interiors
- 5 years RTS I or II Inspector experience preferred
- Previous supervisory and leadership experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft office software required
