Description

Silvercrest Senior Residences serve to fill a critical need for housing for low-income seniors. Residents pay only thirty percent of their income for housing, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pays the difference. These apartment-style communities range in size from 22 to 257 units. The units are equipped with a private kitchen and comfortable living quarters, which encourage independent living.

Job: HUD Occupancy Specialist

Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $25.00-$29.00

Location: Santa Rosa Silvercrest in Santa Rosa, CA

* Promote, market and ensure full occupancy for property units.
* Interact with applicants by providing answers regarding general eligibility.
* Determine eligibility following HUD guidelines and tenant selection plan while adhering to Fair Housing policies.
* Process initial applications including reference and background checks and income verification
* Schedule and conduct applicant interviews for occupancy selection
* Notify applicants of outcome of eligibility and interview results.
* Notify residents of re-certification process and necessary information needed to complete.
* Maintain and updates waiting lists on a daily basis.
* Collect monthly rent, prepare receipts for deposits and update ledger on receivables, security deposit due and others.
* Submit vouchers for housing assistance payments to HUD
* Maintain resident files in neat and accurate order.
* Support Silvercrest Operating Procedures Manual and Salvation Army policies.
* Represents The Salvation Army in a positive and professional manner by maintaining positive relationships with Silvercrest residents, vendors and TSA staff.
* Will be required to perform other duties as requested by Supervisor.

Qualifications
Experience
PC literacy is required including Word, Excel, Lotus Notes (preferred)
Ability to communicate professionally and accurately, both verbally and in writing. (preferred)
Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. (preferred)
Analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various issues, and prioritize work. (preferred)
Strong organizational skills and time management skills (preferred)
Demonstrated working knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations (preferred)
3 - 5 years: 3 -5 years prior experience working with HUD regulations regarding occupancy and resident selection (required)
