Job Summary

Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, develops and conducts training programs for staff. Facilitates instructor-led learning; monitors compliance with regulatory training. Serve as department Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC). (Liaison between DCC and Virginia State Police to ensure laws, policies and regulations are followed for use of the state terminal, as well as organize and maintain training certifications for staff.) Assesses training needs. (In collaboration with the management team, assesses mandated training needs for department staff to ensure compliance with Federal, State & Local mandates.) Schedules and coordinates training classes. (Schedules and coordinates delivery of training; schedules training center facilities and other shared resources; and communicates procurement requirements.) Maintains department training records. (Ensures files are accurately maintained and readily accessible; assists senior staff and program managers with training records management database planning and development; maintains training records management in NEOGOV.) Establishes, maintains and updates the departmental onboarding and training program to ensure relevant material. Complies with policies and procedures and assist the management team with SOPs. (Demonstrates compliance with applicable federal, state, County, department, and division policies, procedures, and regulations. Completes required training and policy and process reviews. Performs designated Essential Duties of position.) Collaborates with the Criminal Justice Analyst with ad hoc criminal justice projects. Leads employee wellness efforts and works in concert with secondary trauma facilitators to provide training and services to staff. Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteer and intern assignments and scheduling. This position has no supervisory responsibilities but works in close collaboration with the department's management team.

Salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field; three (3) years criminal justice or counseling work experience including functional or operational administrative experience in a criminal justice, jail, or corrections setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Pass pre-employment criminal, and DMV background checks. Must possess valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
Depending on assignment background check may also include fingerprinting, and NCIC; pass TB test within 30 days of hire. Spanish proficiency preferred.
Master's degree and/or Master Trainer Certification preferred.
