Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the Student Accessibility Center ( SAC), the Associate Director for Testing Operations manages accommodated testing operations at Loyola's three Chicago-area campuses: Lake Shore Campus, Water Tower Campus, and Health Sciences Campus. The Associate Director supervises testing operations staff and oversees the coordinating, scheduling, and processing of accommodated tests or assessments for students with disabilities while ensuring that test integrity and Student Accessibility Center policies and procedures are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Director of the Student Accessibility Center, the Associate Director of Testing Operations manages the overall exam proctoring services provided to the Loyola University Chicago community of faculty and students, ensuring exam integrity and Student Accessibility Center policies and procedures are followed.
  • Supervises Testing Coordinator of the Student Accessibility Center.
  • Serves on the SAC leadership team with Director and fellow Associate Directors.
  • Oversees testing operations for students with disabilities for the Student Accessibility Center at three campuses: Lake Shore Campus, Water Tower Campus, and Health Sciences Campus.
  • Works with Director to develop and update services, policies, and procedures for consistency among testing operations among Loyola's multiple campuses.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluations of accommodated exams services to continually improve service delivery.
  • Responsible for improving exam proctoring processes through understanding and exploring available capabilities of the case management technology platform.
  • Engages in ongoing trainings offered by case management technology platform on accommodated exams module.
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, schedules and directs the work of the Testing Coordinator.
  • Recruits, trains, and mentors the proctors, graduate student workers, and final exam staff volunteers.
  • Responsible for overall compliance and academic integrity of the Testing Center in conjunction with SAC staff.
  • Manages communication with students and faculty when alerted of academic integrity concerns during administration of exams. Keeps Director informed of academic integrity concerns that arise.
  • Ensures documentation and written records of academic integrity concerns raised during proctoring at SAC testing center are provided by Testing Coordinator. Manages records of incidents with Testing Coordinator is absent.
  • Works closely with Director of SAC to ensure students receive proper accommodations during assessments.
  • Facilitates good working relationships with faculty utilizing SAC testing services. Communicates with faculty regarding timelines for submitting exams and the need for adjusted exam starting times when appropriate.
  • Assists Testing Coordinator in reviewing exam, test, or quiz requests for scheduling and administration purposes.
  • Assists Testing Coordinator with utilizing case management technology system to secure tests and collect instructions for test administration or contacts faculty when additional information is needed. Confirms testing instructions, materials allowed, accommodations, and disposition of completed exams.
  • Assists Testing Coordinator responding to faculty and staff inquiries regarding accommodated exams, tests, and quizzes.
  • Proficient with assistive technology such as JAWS, Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally Speaking, etc. to assist students during exams.
  • Responsible for documenting, collecting statistical data, analyzing trends in SAC testing center utilization, and preparing detailed reports regarding exam, test, or quiz activity and administration.
  • Earns certification to proctor specialized testing as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participates in university-wide and in Student Academic Services signature programs, events, and activities, including but not limited to: Orientation, New Student Convocation, finals week proctoring, Undergraduate Admission open houses, Commencement, and student celebrations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • While this position is primarily based at the Lake Shore Campus (Rogers Park, Chicago, IL), the Associate Director will travel to the Water Tower Campus (Chicago, IL) and Health Sciences Campus (Maywood, IL) periodically and as needed.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education or related field and five years of related work experience required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with faculty/staff and students with care and professionalism.

Proficiency with MS Office 365 applications (including MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams), Internet, and e-mail applications. Prior administration or understanding of case management system Symplicity Accommodate preferred. Familiarity with any/all of the following is beneficial but not required: Oracle PeopleSoft; EAB Navigate360; Zoom. Proficient with assistive technology such as JAWS, Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally Speaking, etc.
