The Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) comprises more than 100 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, product support, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support to more than 100 Above Water Sensor, Undersea, and Combat System programs and projects in the Navy's Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and customers in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Navy's Team Submarine Office. #FC



Responsibilities

SPA's IWSG is seeking a dedicated Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support the Space Systems Development Department (SSDD), the primary space and ground support systems research and development (R&D) organization of the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST), an organization within the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. This organization provides Navy Space Program technology development and acquisition of space, aerospace, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems to assist Naval Missions. Responsibilities include advanced research and development for scientific, technical, and engineering efforts associated with the development and integration of C4ISR systems. This position is full-time onsite at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. We expect to hire for this position in late 2025.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range: $140,000-180,000.



Qualifications

Required

    BS Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • DoD granted TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Minimum relevant experience of ten (10) years
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in the specification and setup of domains, servers, telecommunications networks, remote access systems, and mail servers

Desired

  • Experience designing and implementing information systems which will adequately support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization, analyzing system requirements and ensuring that systems offer security and effectively integrate with current applications, ensuring that all systems work at optimal levels and offering support to application development department regarding new technologies and system requirements, establishing detailed understanding of infrastructure, application programming, and web and software applications, and managing suites of hardware and software infrastructure components, including Virtual Machine (VM) management in both secure and unsecure network environments supporting complex Multi-INT development to High Availability (HA) operational processing systems for a variety of government clients
  • Ability to develop/maintain security documentation, network drawings, and manage multiple related infrastructure components from conceptual design to implementation and operational utilization
  • Capability to identify and resolve complex configuration and performance issues within a dynamic infrastructure
  • Ability to provide hands-on support, maintenance, performance monitoring, and optimization of managed infrastructure systems and communicate with a variety of hardware and software vendors to receive quotes and resolve infrastructure challenges, including working closely with the project Chief Systems Engineer (CSE) to gather requirements and implement direct changes to meet aggressive and demanding schedules
