Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled Component Engineer to join their Electronics & Embedded Systems Division. This role is focused on the support and movement of complex electrical and electromechanical systems from design to operational use, primarily in national defense applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with high-reliability and mission-critical systems, as well as a deep understanding of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) components, part failure modes, and semiconductor technologies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Review the selection, assembly, and testing of EEE components to ensure they are reliable, effective, and suitable for the system's needs.
  • Evaluate and inspect design and manufacturing processes for electronic circuits, components, integrated systems, and hardware installations to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Independently identify failures in designs and components, conduct research, and suggest solutions for mitigating failures.
  • Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) to ensure comprehensive failure analyses, contributing to defect resolution.
  • Lead Parts Materials and Processes Control Boards (PMPBs) to evaluate risks associated with Non-Standard Parts Requests (NSPARS) and Non-Standard Materials Requests (NSMARS), ensuring compliance with MDA Parts Materials and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP) guidelines.
  • Manage and communicate with component suppliers to ensure parts meet quality and performance standards.
  • Generate and maintain essential documentation, including Source Control Drawings and other technical documents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is preferred).
  • 2-10 years of experience in a relevant engineering field, particularly in component engineering for mission-critical or defense applications.
  • Familiarity with high-reliability/mission-critical systems, including experience with semiconductor technologies, bonding, mounting, and packaging.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical component failure modes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address technical challenges independently.
  • Experience with parts material processes, especially in a defense or aerospace context, is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Ability to work remotely, in a hybrid setup, or onsite, as required.
  • Additional Requirements: Two monitors, a computer running Windows 11, a wired network connection for reliable connectivity, and access to a phone (cell or landline) for communication.
  • Active Secret clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates without clearance must be able to obtain a secret clearance upon starting the role.
  • Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
