How You'll Make an Impact
We are seeking a Wildfire Planner/Project Manager with 5-8 years of professional experience to join our wildfire planning team. Dudek's wildfire planning team has been working in the wildfire hazard assessment and protection planning field for over 20 years. We work with landowners and land management agencies to evaluate wildfire hazard and develop plans to mitigate wildfire risk to communities. This position would work with our diverse group of fire planning professionals and will be responsible for managing wildfire planning projects, including coordinating with project team members, communicating with clients and agency staff, and ensuring that projects are completed within identified schedules and budgets. This position will be based out of one of Dudek's California offices. Occasional project-related travel within California may be necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leading preparation of wildfire planning documents, including coordination with project team members and ensuring that appropriate technical review has been completed.
  • Analyzing project data and conducting project-related research.
  • Regularly communicating with project team members and clients throughout the project development process.
  • Managing project budgets and timelines.
  • Drafting reports and plans.
  • Preparing project proposals, scopes, budgets, and timelines.
  • Supporting the overall wildfire planning team on other projects, as needed, outside of a project management role.
  • Attending and presenting at project meetings to discuss the results of project-related assessments, analyses, and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in natural resources management, forestry, fire science, environmental planning, or other related field.
  • 5--8 yr's experience preparing environmental or natural resource management planning documents, CEQA or NEPA documents, and/or associated technical reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing environmental or natural resource management projects, involving coordination with project team members. Documented experience managing Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) or wildfire planning projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience with conducting community engagement in support of plan preparation is highly desirable.
  • Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and associated project budgets.
  • Strong writing, communication, and public speaking/presentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and evaluate data sets and planning documents and summarize pertinent information into reports.

Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 annually*
*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

Environment
  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job may also require occasional project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.
