Where you will work

The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavy weight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day. The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard facility and critical to the success of our strategy and future.

What you will do

The Administrative Assistant supports the Finished Goods, Paper Machines and C&A Departments in providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the department. This position will perform a variety of tasks related to organization and communication while maintaining confidential and time sensitive materials.

Job Functions



  • Supports the Department Manager and staff with all related documentation and reporting
  • Supports the Engagement Council, DLL's, Safety Advocates and the entire FG/PM/C&A work force
  • Use WFM to pull daily, weekly overtime reports, attendance reports coordinating this information with Human Resources when needed
  • Use WFM to track abnormal pay practices and correct pay rates
  • Crew and Vacation Schedules:

    • Creates and publish Department(s) weekly crew and vacation schedules for 200 hourly employees in WFM payroll system and assigns/fills shift vacancies on call offs
    • Create and publish weekly crew and vacation schedules for 2 lines of progression and hourly employees in WFM payroll system and assigns/fills shift vacancies on call offs
    • Create vacation packets and schedule vacation for the department employees
    • Maintains vacation and schedules in WFM
    • Work closely with Security on all call-in issues


  • Use SharePoint to update forms, shift logs, pull reports, etc.
  • Track all on and off-site training and ensure trainees are paid correctly
  • Track and move all newly hired employees through their training rotation
  • Maintains departmental employee's personnel and training files
  • Publish weekly overtime report
  • Create and maintain daily and monthly department production reports including tracking down time
  • Maintain annual budgets each department


      • Work with Finance Department to create annual budgets



      • Provide mid-month forecast for fuel & energy budgets



      • Provide quarterly updates on fuel & energy budgets



      • Maintains inventories of departmental equipment, tools, operating log sheets, office supplies, and frequently used items



      • Creates and posts weekly and monthly communication charts for the department



      • Excellent communication with Union leadership



      • Excellent understanding of the Labor Agreement



      • Works with members of the team to promote safety awareness, process improvement, housekeeping and customer focus



      • Must be supportive of CLW's Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork)



      • Must be supportive and involved in CLW efforts for Continuous Improvement programs and processes

          What you will need



          • 2-5 years administrative support experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
          • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prefer associate or bachelor's degree
          • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project) required
          • Proficient in WFM and SharePoint preferred
          • Ability to learn CLW software systems such as the Appropriation Request System
          • Strong communication skills
          • Excellent organization and follow up skills
          • Trustworthy / able to handle confidentiality
          • Ability to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency of routine processes
          • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
          • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment; however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so
          • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail
          • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours
          • Ability to safely walk distances up to mile without assistance
          • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
          • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
          • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment
          • Ability to physically move about manufacturing environments
