The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking an Estimating Coordinator to join our high-performing Estimating team in Seattle. You will be joining an experienced and motivated group of people where you will have the opportunity to establish yourself as a key contributor to the team. As part of this team, you will work on exciting, complex, and large projects. To be successful, you must have a strong sense of ownership, be technically proficient, and possess excellent communication skills, as you will be collaborating with team members of all levels.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starting decision maker who has excellent listening skills and extreme attention to detail. Excellent time management and organizational skills will help to ensure success in this role. You will be expected to clearly communicate with the estimating team, engineers, and our sales and business development teams across the company.

We have a wide range of customers and projects including large commercial, life sciences, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, technology, manufacturing, etc. The size and complexity of the projects we work on varies and can range anywhere from $1M-$100M+

Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

  • Review and update estimating schedule daily.
  • Interface with all departments including sales and project teams, special projects group, and engineering.
  • Intake all bid documents from internal/external teams.
  • Distribute documents to estimating team.
  • Setup initial estimating project kickoff meetings.
  • Establish, communicate, and track estimating budget hours.
  • Coordinate estimating to sales final turnover meetings.
  • Follow-up with teams after estimates are sent out.
  • Setup bid folders and ensure all documents are in the folder.
  • Reach out to equipment vendors and subcontractors for pricing through Building Connected platform.
    • Follow-up with vendors and subs to make sure they are going to have their bids completed by the requested due date.
    • Once bid is received verify items quantity and types are correct.
    • Communicate with vendors and subs to correct and update bids when necessary.
  • Check and update union labor sheets monthly.
  • Light estimating duties including HVAC & Plumbing scopes.
  • Setup estimating department technical trainings with equipment vendors and subcontractors.
  • Support Bi-Monthly Depart Meetings

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • High school diploma or equivalent-or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Bluebeam
  • Engineering or construction background is helpful.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical systems and applications a plus.
  • Experience with budget management and cost control a plus.
  • Revit or AutoCAD experience a plus.

The pay range for this position is $24.3-$39.28 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
