Painter II

Farr West, UT

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of painting with supervision. Repair painting equipment. Assist with sandblasting as needed. Solve most painting problems as they occur.

Essential Functions:

  • Repair painting equipment
  • Spray parts with quality, i.e. no voids, dry lines, runs or sags
  • Sand and grit blast when needed
  • Maintain safe environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must know how manufacturing paint specifications apply to paint jobs.
  • Must know how to use wet and dry film gauges.
  • Ability to read paint instructions off blueprints.
  • Must know how to stencil parts.
  • Must know how to use airless paint gun.
  • Able to pass Level II quality control paint test.
  • Dependable; good attendance.
  • Efficient with time.
  • Willing to help where needed.
  • Willing to work overtime as set by supervisor.
  • Desire to learn intermediate painting skills.
  • Eye-Hand coordination.
  • Be a safe worker around hazardous chemical.
  • Able to supervise team members on an infrequent basis as needed.
  • Maintain safe environment.

Minimum Requirements:

High School education. Two years automotive or commercial painting experience.

Essential Mental Functions:

Must be able to understand implicit and explicit instructions and react favorable in all work situations. Must be able resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.

Essential Physical Functions:

Requires lifting of at least 50lbs, stooping, bending and stretching to accomplish painting, sandblasting and other assigned duties. Requires standing, bending and stooping for extended periods of time,

Safety Requirements:

  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Paint Gun, Grinder, Respirator, Sandblast equipment and other painter tools.

  8. Vice grips
  9. Phillips screwdriver

  11. 3/8" to 3/4" box/open wrench
  12. Pliers
  13. Putty knife (2" wide)
  14. Wire brush
  15. Allen wrench set
  16. Razor knife
  17. Small air grinder
  18. 8" and 12" crescent wrench
  19. Needle nose pliers
  20. 25' measuring tap

Availability:

  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Travel:

Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Working Conditions:

Works in typical paint shop surroundings. Occasionally called upon to work overtime. Working conditions may vary according to weather. Requires ability to work in heat and cold.
