Sandblaster Operator

Farr West, UT

Job Summary:

Perform basic sand and grit blasting with little supervision. Train and guide Sand Blaster I as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Perform commercial blast, white, near white, and brush-off blast
• Train and guide blast team and assign work
• Must keep all sand blasting areas clean
• Remove waste materials from shop
• Organize tools and materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to perform commercial blast, white, near white, and brush-off blast.
• Able to read work order and blueprints pertaining to sand blast requirements.
• Able to train and guide blast team and assign work.
• Able to fix hoses and minor blast machine problems.
• Dependable; good attendance.
• Efficient with time.
• Willing to help where needed.
• Willing to work overtime as set by supervisor.
• Eye-hand coordination.
• Be a safe worker around hazardous chemicals.
• Maintain safe environment.

Essential Mental Functions:

Must be able to understand implicit and explicit instructions and react favorable in all work situations. Must be able resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.

Essential Physical Functions:

Requires lifting of at least 50lbs, stooping, bending and stretching. Requires standing, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.

Safety Requirements:

• Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
• Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Equipment Used (but not limited to):

Sand blast equipment, forklift, grinder, tools.

Tooling Required:

1. Safety glasses
2. Large leather gloves
3. Steel toe shoes
4. Face shield
5. Hammer (ball peen)
6. Tool box with lock
7. Wire brush
8. Razor knife
9. Phillips screw driver
10. Regular screw driver
11. 3/8 to 3/4" box/open wrench
12. 8" and 12" crescent wrench

Minimum Requirements:

• High School education. 2 years' experience in sand/grit blasting.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
