A Day in the Life of a Senior Data Analyst

The Senior Data Analyst leads the design and execution of market research and data analysis to guide business decisions. Analysts work across departments to understand workflows, capture accurate data, and integrate systems effectively. Common tasks include developing dashboards, tracking KPIs, and performing ROI analysis to evaluate performance and identify opportunities. Collaboration is frequent, with stakeholders relying on clear, actionable reports and visualizations to inform their strategies. The work is a mix of independent data extraction and transformation using SQL, paired with team-based problem-solving and ongoing documentation to ensure clarity and compliance.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required

  • Five years of work experience in a data-driven professional setting as a data analyst
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics -OR- related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience and general knowledge of financial general ledgers, monthly budgets and financial reporting in a health care system
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare metrics, quality measures, and reimbursement models.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of data querying techniques, especially SQL, MS SQL and MS Excel Programming
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Power BI/Tableau for report creation, publication, distribution, and permission/security administration
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)


Preferred

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Database management and database structure experience
  • Experience with electronic medical records system (Epic)
  • Knowledge of CPT ICD10 and HCPCS codes
  • Prior experience with a healthcare business office
  • Prior experience with CMS data analytics
  • Prior experience with third-party and government insurance billing Experience in patient billing systems

The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual employee's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
