Position Summary
* Expertly navigate and manage Linux-based systems, ensuring effective system administration, troubleshooting, and optimization across various distributions to maintain high operational standards and reliability.
* Implement and troubleshoot network configurations such as static routes, advanced routing protocols, port channels, and VLANs, optimizing network efficiency and traffic flow.
* Assemble, integrate, and install components of advanced shipboard emulation systems and network service peripherals for both lab-based and operational testing.
* Interpret and apply technical documentation to accurately set up and configure advanced shipboard emulation systems from server racks to logical configurations, ensuring comprehensive system integrity and readiness.
* Apply systems engineering best practices in assembling, integrating, installing, and maintaining Shipboard Combat Systems, including Advanced Capability Builds and Shipboard Self Defense Systems (SSDS).
* Manage the Aegis Weapon System deployment, ensuring effective operation within naval defense parameters and alignment with current tactical and technological requirements.
* Collaborate with defense agencies and internal teams to ensure system compliance and readiness.
* Provide dedicated technical support during all mission test phases, ensuring systems meet operational objectives and address any arising issues promptly.
* Conduct regular system maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and uphold continuous operational capabilities across all systems and components.
Responsibilities
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, and a favorably adjudicated T5 background investigation to be granted Network/System Administrator privileges. Individual must obtain and maintain the necessary security requirements for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.
* Must currently possess a Security+ certification (DoD Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2) or can obtain it within six months of employment
Education/Licensure/Credentials
Required:
* A minimum of 20 years in system engineering.
* Strong background in network engineering, including familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN), virtualization technologies (VMware, ESXi), and Cisco IOS.
* Network+ or can obtain it within six months of employment
* Demonstrate proficiency in Linux environments, including the ability to manage, configure, and troubleshoot systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
* Linux+ or can obtain it within six months of employment
* DoD IAT Level II certified or can obtain it within six months of employment
* Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Preferred:
* Bachelors in computer science preferred
Experience
Required:
* A minimum of 20 years in system engineering.
* Strong background in network engineering, including familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN), virtualization technologies (VMware, ESXi), and Cisco IOS.
* Network+ or can obtain it within six months of employment
* Demonstrate proficiency in Linux environments, including the ability to manage, configure, and troubleshoot systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
* Linux+ or can obtain it within six months of employment
* DoD IAT Level II certified or can obtain it within six months of employment
* Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred:
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
* Experience with the installation and maintenance of military defense systems, particularly the Aegis Combat System
* Knowledge in TDL systems interoperability test evolutions, Link Certification, and Test & Evaluation (T&E) testing
