Description The Advanced Practice Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing clinical practice for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within the organization. This role focuses on system development, analysis, and improvement to optimize APP practice and patient care delivery in the organization's centers of excellence.

Serves as a key liaison between divisions, APP Leads, and the broader organization, collaborating closely with the Advanced Practice Provider Director.
Supports APP Leads, affiliate/student coordinators, and orientation coordinators to foster leadership skills, clinical expertise, quality improvement initiatives, recruitment, retention, and professional development.

Credentialed by the Medical Staff and eligible to function as a credentialed clinical practitioner under the collaborative supervision of a physician, providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and care management to an assigned patient group.
Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans, adhering to protocols established jointly by medical and nursing divisions.

Leads the development, analysis, and improvement of systems that impact APP practice, emphasizing quality care and efficient delivery.
Acts as a resource for issues related to APP roles, patient care processes, program development, and complex problem-solving.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:

Provides leadership, collaboration, and consultation to departments such as Medical Staff, Human Resources, Quality and Safety, and Nursing Education and Staff Development (NEPD) to support a unified approach to APP practice.

This position is crucial to advancing the quality and scope of APP practice within the organization, with an emphasis on clinical excellence, program development, and professional support across departments.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's or Doctoral degree as Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant from an accredited University (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
At least 5 years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Preferred advanced practice leadership experience for example as an APP lead, clinical manager, program director, educator or comparable positions. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Ability to advise, collaborate and lead APP clinical professionals and experts.
Program development, implementation, and facilitation.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) (Required)

  • Works with APP Director, Leads and educators to support APP professional development to identify, evaluate and support continuing education.


  • Accountable for engaging APP leads and organizational stakeholders to promote recruitment, retention, patient quality and safety and APP engagement.


  • Accountable for reporting APP assessments and making strategy recommendations to Director.


  • Integrates quality improvement methodology into APP education through tools, training, and hardwire principles into our organization to make processes more efficient.


  • Contributes to the sustainability and advancement of nursing excellence which translates into on-going Magnet designation.


Financial



  • Identifies opportunities for cost containment and reduction related to APPs.


  • Accountable for organizing and maintain databases to track projects related to APP recruitment and retention, satisfaction, communication.


  • Makes recommendations to Director related to current trends and broader impact related to APP retention, recruitment and professional development.


  • Prepares periodic summaries and annual report of projects, metrics, and findings for Director.


Leadership



  • Performs administrative and reporting responsibilities per APP department.


  • Supports APP led initiatives, at the department and clinical level as needed.


  • Participates in the APP council meetings.


  • Provides and participates in APP department updates.


  • Participates and helps facilitate APP leadership.


  • Provides engagement and collaboration with organizational initiatives, leaders and APPs


  • Manages, supports and helps to facilitate APP led programs


  • Supports APP scholarship, research and quality improvement


  • Leads or Co- leads APP lead meetings.


  • Responsible for supporting APP leads and professional development needs.


  • Relays important and timely updates to staff regarding operations of APP and organizational programs.


  • Liaises to department(s)/division(s) leadership and APP director regarding APP professional development and clinical practice.

  • Contributes to the sustainability and advancement of APP excellence.


  • Ensures practice is evidence based.


  • Identifies opportunities for cost containment and reduction.


  • Acts as a clinical resource for organization and APP staff.


  • Leads hospital/division performance improvement projects and supports APPs to do the same.


  • Continuously evaluates APP department programs and projects.


  • Maintains knowledge and responsibility for APP professional development and clinical practice.


  • Written communication reflects clear concise, goal directed, and objective information.


  • Collaborates with staff, patient/families, and members of the healthcare team to facilitate patient outcomes.
