This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

You will work across stages and associated subsystems to support integrated solutions to achieve of vision of "millions of people living and working in space." You will support certification efforts on the New Glenn program and leverage materials & processes experience to enable external government agency certification of the New Glenn System. Tasks will include planning and execution of certification, auditing, and demonstrating compliance to our government customers. This will be inclusive of tracking, mitigating, and providing status for key certification risks and projects.

Your extensive experience in both metallic (e.g., forging, forming, extrusion, plating, corrosion, coating, brazing, anodization, welding, passivation) and non-metallic materials (e.g., O-rings, seals, lubricants) will greatly benefit our team as we improve processes and engineering designs. Additionally, the capability to interpret and implement requirements that align with government standards, while maintaining hardware execution flexibility, is essential for success. This includes interpreting and updating drawings as needed to refine the engineering of New Glenn's sustaining hardware configuration.

This position is Fixed Term: 1 Year

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support regulatory compliance efforts on National Security Space Launch projects to ensure accurate and timely approvals for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle program.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships across the New Glenn program, US government partners at the National Security Space Launch Office, and other related government groups.
  • Work with multi-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce aerospace hardware.
  • Review and approval drawings for conformance to the New Glenn Parts, Materials, and Process Plan.
  • Define and implement test plans, specifications, and other documentation for the development of flight hardware.
  • Support developing and reviewing compliance evidence for materials and process engineering documentation and command media.
  • Support product sustainment activities for the New Glenn launch Vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Material Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or relevant field from ABET accredited school.
  • 5+ years' experience with materials and processes used in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with aircraft, launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellite development, production, or operations.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and engineering drawing review.
  • Experience with National Security Space Launch (NSSL) requirements and collaborating with US Government agencies.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with multi-skilled teams across large geographic distances.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with materials at extreme thermal environments (ie. cryogenic and elevated temperatures).
  • Experience with a variety of metallic and nonmetallic material manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience with legacy and product sustainment activities.
  • Experience validating component and assemblies for Parts, Material, and Process requirements.
  • Experience working with product lifecycle management and requirements management tools such as windchill, and DOORS NG

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20
