Summary of Job Duties:The Western Arkansas Technical Center (WATC) is a regional secondary technical center that provides concurrent credit educational opportunities for high school juniors and seniors. The program coordinator will assist the Director of Early College Programs with registration, recruitment, success activities, career exploration, job placement, and special functions on the UAFS campus and at any WATC satellite campus. The Program Coordinator will serve as a student advocate; work to ensure student success; work with high school principals and counselors; present information to groups and individuals at high schools; maintain student records; assist in scheduling, including competency testing; assist in planning and coordinating student orientation activities; serve as WATC representative with the business community, campus, and high school personnel; assist with student advising and registrations; and perform other duties as assigned by the Director. This position reports to the Executive Director of Early College programs. This is a twelve-month position. Qualifications:

Summary of Job Duties:

  • Advise, register, and enroll students from area high schools in WATC programs of study on the UAFS campus and all satellite campuses

  • Address academic alerts for WATC students through the campus systems and address student academic concerns/inquiries from parents, counselors, and instructors

  • Coordinate recruitment activities with all area high schools for the WATC program

  • Assist in communication of program/student information to partner school districts, students, and parents/guardians

  • Coordinate student login and ID dissemination

  • Assist in coordination of industry certifications/exams for WATC students

  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates.

  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor's degree and three years related work experience in a higher education or public school setting working with juniors and seniors. Experience in a secondary technical center would be a plus. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to work in a technological environment demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as the student information system.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a quality-focused service environment with excellent organizational skills, and to provide customer service in a professional manner

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; read and interpret written information. Ability to edit work for accuracy and thoroughness, and to monitor own work to ensure quality.

  • Ability to problem solve issues that arise.

  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with employees, students, and community members.

  • Ability to effectively manage a variety of tasks in an accurate and efficient manner.
