Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part-Time FGP Ultrasound Tech - NYUL Peds Urology, Lake Success, Commack, Valley Stream & Corona.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist may be responsible depending on work location for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer maintains a High standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding & knowledge of the field, disease(s), and new procedures as they evolve.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides for Patient comfort and arranges equipment for procedure. Prepares equipment and supplies according to established departmental procedures. Interacts with patients by identifying self to patient and verifies the identity of the patient by checking the patients ID bracelet or verbal acknowledgement by patient. Explains the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly. Provides for patient privacy at all times.
- Administers vascular procedures by operating computerized ultrasound equipment and recording devices. Utilizes patient chart in obtaining pertinent history as necessary. Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal vascular anatomy and hemodynamics, as well as the major disease processes of the Cerebral Vascular and Peripheral Vascular systems.
- Performs, assesses, and critiques the patients Doppler deciding what is necessary for a complete diagnostic study based on initial request and preliminary results of procedures. Alerts the appropriate medical staff of abnormalities that require immediate attention. Compares present echocardiograms to previous studies to monitor changes in present status. Carries out assignments within a realistic time frame.
- Documents the vascular exam according to departmental procedures. Selects, cuts, and mounts segments of scans in order to visualize flow studies, both normal and abnormal. Enters, maintains, and records all pertinent patient data . Informs physician of any changes in patients condition or pertinent findings from examination.
- Maintains equipment in proper functioning order. Cleans and prepares equipment of patient application. Sterilizes equipment after each isolation patient in accordance with nursing and departmental policies. Performs predetermined, preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program required. Registered Diagnostic Sonographer OR Registered Vascular Technologist required. Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment required. Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information required. Ability to follow established departmental procedures required. Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations required. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position required. Strength sufficient to: lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels (up to approx. 500 lbs), and to move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers required. Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree In a related field. 3 - 5 Years Minimum 3 years of Ultrasound experience. 3 - 5 Years OB/GYN, small parts and/or vascular experience.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $54.36 - $60.52 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
