Posting Summary
Position Description: The Department of Supply Chain Management at Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Supply Chain Management, with a primary focus on data analytics applications. Applicants are expected to work effectively with cross-functional teams within the department and maintain a strong record of productivity and quality in published research, teaching, and service activities.
Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Management Science, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate for the position will have a strong research agenda in supply chain with established publication records in leading journals. The candidate will commit to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate is expected to produce high-impact scholarly research in supply chain management in FT-50/ UTD-24 journals. The candidate will teach across a variety of degree (undergraduate, master, Ph.D., DBA) and non-degree executive education programs. The candidate will engage and lead service activities including industry engagement as determined by the Department and School.
Department of Supply Chain Management:
As one of the largest SCM programs in the country, the SCM department hosts 14 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 14 professional practice faculty specializing in supply chain analytics, sustainability, supply chain finance, logistics and healthcare operations. The department's faculty regularly publish in and serve on editorial boards of FT-50/ UTD-24 journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Operations Management. The department offers degrees in Supply Chain Management at all levels, from undergraduate through PhD and DBA, serving over 1400 students. In 2024, the SCM graduate and undergraduate programs were ranked No. 3 and No. 5 by Gartner, respectively. The SCM online graduate program was ranked No. 2 by U.S. News & World Report. The newly established Healthcare Analytics and Intelligence graduate program was ranked No.2 by Analytics Degrees. The SCM Department has deep industry engagement through its highly-regarded Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management, which partners with many global corporations, and through its faculty of professional practice, from upper levels of management in major organizations. Since 2021, the department has hosted the annual Supply Chain Analytics Institute Conference, which has attracted hundreds of academic researchers and industry experts to share the latest advancements in analytics and data science within the supply chain field.
