Job Description
WGL - Construction Project Supervisor The Construction Supervisor is responsible for the planning and oversight of Washington Gas' construction activities to ensure they are completed safely, cost-effectively, and in compliance with all applicable regulations, contracts, and corporate policies. This position works closely with Technical Supervisors and other stakeholders and may be required to participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency response or urgent field issues. Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance by contractors and company personnel with all contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements. Approve field changes, validate contractor invoices, and review field documentation for accuracy and completeness. Address and resolve unsafe conditions and abnormal operating conditions (AOCs) in the field. Utilize company systems such as the Work Management System (WMS) to access, enter, evaluate, and audit project data and reports. Collaborate across departments to ensure timely and cost-effective project planning, design, and execution that meets regulatory and corporate standards. Oversee New Business and Replacement construction setup, including safety protocols, traffic control, utility locating, soil and erosion control, permit compliance, and gas exposure monitoring. Monitor pipeline installation activities such as pipe joining, excavation, backfill, paving, testing, purging, tie-ins, and material handling to ensure adherence to standards. Confirm compliance with company policies and procedures across all construction activities to support safe and reliable gas service delivery. Provide project updates and site readiness information to internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and customer satisfaction. Track project budgets, identify variances, and provide justification for cost changes to keep projects on time and within scope. Participate in on-call or after-hours supervisory duties, responding to emergency or unplanned events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support construction operations and business goals.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license required; must be able to maintain it throughout employment and safely operate company vehicles. Minimum 2 years of experience in a construction-related field required; 3+ years preferred. Experience working with contractors and/or in the utilities or energy industry is an asset. Knowledge of the full construction lifecycle including materials, equipment, labor, and procedures for new business, replacement, and meter/regulator work. Familiarity with pipeline safety, damage prevention, permit restrictions, erosion control, and gas exposure monitoring. Ability to interpret and apply industry codes and standards. Working knowledge of construction contracts, pricing, and federal, state, and local underground construction regulations. Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, and the ability to use company systems for reporting and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships at all levels. Proven leadership and coordination abilities, with a focus on driving results through influence and effective planning. Demonstrated project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work outside of normal business hours as needed.

We offer a competitive salary range of $76,000 - $108,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
