Description

Overall Responsibility: We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Specialist to support the Payroll Manager in overseeing and processing payroll operations with accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing and tax compliance administration, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for employees. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations and best practices.

Essential Functions:



  • Payroll Processing: Accurately calculate wages, deductions, and bonuses while ensuring timely payroll distribution.
  • Compliance & Tax Filing: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including payroll tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • Time & Attendance Management: Verify employee work hours, overtime, and leave balances through the timekeeping system.
  • Recordkeeping & Documentation: Maintain payroll records, reports, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
  • Issue Resolution: Address payroll discrepancies, respond to employee inquiries, and resolve payroll-related concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors to facilitate seamless payroll operations and ensure alignment with company

Qualifications

Needed Skills:



  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paycom and ERP systems such as Deltek, as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with high accuracy in data entry and payroll calculations.
  • Confidentiality & Integrity: Ability to manage sensitive employee and company information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Innovation & Initiative: Proactive, forward-thinking, and able to work independently to identify process improvements.



Education/Experience:



  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in payroll processing or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Advanced experience with HRIS systems and ERP systems (ex. Deltek VantagePoint).
