Your Role
We are currently seekingProduction Team Leadfor ourForgingdepartment at our New Hudson, Michigan location. The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership to the manufacturing plant floor to assist the Production Supervisor with workflow and productivity in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. You will be reporting to the Production Supervisor.
This is a position on 2nd shift: 4pm-12:30am
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure timely completion of assignments and production sequences to meet production goals
- Partner and support the Production Supervisor to ensure employees engagement and productiveness
- Provide input regarding resources to meet weekly production requirements
- Support standardized work practices training and follow-up on related concerns
- Participate in employee coaching
- Provide employee performance evaluation review input
- Partner with Team Leads and Supervisors in the coordination of activities within/between areas
- Communicate tooling and supply needsto Production Supervisor
- Report all deviations defined by quality procedures to support"Zero Defects" objective
- Recommend and implement continuous improvements to include production methods, equipment performance, product quality, efficiency,and standardized work
- Effectivelyprovide team updates while encouraging team meeting participation
- Identify and eliminate waste within all work areas
- Support management team and embrace lean culture
- Operate production equipment
- Ensure the accurate completion of daily history sheets, manufacturing packs, and related paperwork
- Record data utilizing current forms and internal systems
- Distribute new jobs and manage team schedules
- Electronically process finished goods through SYSPRO
- Other duties as required
To succeed, you will need
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum1 year of experience in a lead role in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Proactive approach towards safety and 5S standards; understanding that safety and quality come first
- Direct experience withbasic computer skills
- Knowledge of basic math
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional approach and team oriented
- Punctual team player with a positive attitude
EDUCATION:
- High school Diplomarequired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to move around production area, including standing and bending
- Must have good visual acuity to read and use operations software system
- Push or pull trolley
- Occasionally crouch or bend (lower than 36" from ground)
