The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Construction Services Manager to our growing Energy division in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you will manage teams of regional construction personnel to ensure the successful outcome of assigned projects and to meet business unit and revenue goals. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

People Management

  • Select, develop, coach, and manage staff.
  • Regularly communicate, formally and informally company goals, policies, plans and priorities.
  • Act as steward of McKinstry culture; communicate and influence policies and procedures.
  • Assign and oversee direct reports and other staff as required for project implementation.

Manage Revenue and Operational Systems

  • Create and manage operating budgets.
  • Forecast revenue.
  • Contribute to development of strategic and tactical business plans.
  • Analyze and deliver accurate and timely financial results.
  • Mitigate risk on behalf of the company.
  • Create and implement continuous improvement process.
  • Review project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in project risk and peer reviews.

Build Cross-functional Relationships

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with people in other departments (internal partners).
  • Involve people in other departments in discussions and projects when appropriate.
  • Provide support to people in other departments when requested and appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees and teams.
  • Look for and promote cross-functional operational opportunities.
  • Coordinate implementation handoffs between internal departments.
  • Participate as leader within national construction management team to positively influence national Construction Management team growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager.
  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture or Facilities Management or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ten (10) years of leadership over project teams with experience in engineering, construction, facilities services required
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling software: Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Suretrak required.
  • Experience with a General Contractor or Major Mechanical Subcontractor preferred.
  • PE, CFM, CEM, CPM, LEED professional designations are a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process, financial acumen, and systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction financial programs and software required.
  • Ability to create pro-formas, budgets, revenue forecasting and manage to stated budgets required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain.
  • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; reimbursed.

The pay range for this position is $114,210 - $192,900 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
