Performs skilled tasks needed for the successful completion of renovation, construction and maintenance projects, tasks and work requests. Assists in, the planning, estimating, coordination, and completion of hospital renovations, construction and maintenance.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Performs all tasks related to the successful completion of hospital renovations, construction and maintenance.
2. Performs finish and general carpentry, painting, masonry and other maintenance tasks.
3. Plans, coordinates and completes renovation, construction and maintenance tasks and projects.
4. Assists others by performing various tasks duties, etc.
5. Installs, removes, replaces, repairs and modifies walls, doors, building hardware, windows, floors and ceilings constructed of various materials.
6. Performs locksmith-related duties.
7. Performs painting and patching projects as assigned.
8. Delivery and removal of medical gas tanks to floors.
9. Performs testing and inspection activities.
10. Performs other related duties as determined and assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. MA Driver License
2. Licensed Construction Supervisor - Massachusetts desired
3. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. General knowledge and working experience performing painting and masonry tasks.
2. Must have the ability to communicate in both written and verbal forms as well as develop and maintain operational systems to assure effective facility operations.
3. Working experience and knowledge of building plans, blue prints and CAD.
4. Ability to interpret applicable codes, standards and regulations.
5. Ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous tasks.
6. Working experience with computers and basic software programs.
7. Understanding of Mass building codes
8. Working experience with metal building materials including metal framing studs and hollow metal door frames.
9. Experience working with hanging doors and installing suspended ceilings. OR equivalent combination of the above

Preferred:
1. Three to five years of finish carpentry experience

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments.The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description.Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Occasionally - [lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 100lbs or less], sitting, working indoors, working in temperature extremes, working at heights high level of stress.

Frequently - [lifting carrying, pushing, pulling 50lbs or less], standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, grasping, performing repetitive movements, working outdoors.

Constantly - precise motor skills required, precise hearing required, precise vision required.
