ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • The Development and Engineering Senior Manager participates with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives within cloud development to ensure high-quality performance and user experience. They lead team(s) to develop new methods and solve complex matters to shorten the systems delivery lifecycle and provide a continuousdelivery platform.
  • The Senior Development and Engineering Manager - Retail Data is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and management of data applications, systems, and platforms that support retail operations. This role ensures the integrity, accessibility, and security of retail data across multiple channels, enabling data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. The manager collaborates closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to design and implement scalable data solutions, oversee data governance practices, and drive innovation through advanced analytics. A strong understanding of retail systems, data architecture, and emerging technologies is essential to optimize performance and deliver actionable insights that enhance the customer experience and support business growth.

WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Strategic leader, Directs operational units.
  • Directs the activities of a functional area or multiple integrated departments through lower management.
  • Leads team(s) to develop new methods and solve complex matters.
  • Responsible for supporting the talent strategy through hiring, onboarding, learning & development, performance, succession planning, engagement, recognition, and inclusion, diversity, and equity practices.
  • Responsible for fostering a work environment that encourages employees to act with integrity and respect.

  • Responsible for setting employee objectives and expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing meaningful feedback, and mentorship.

  • Responsible for supporting employee career development.

  • Contributes to development of strategies of a function or multi departments.

Knowledge & Application

  • Participates with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on implementation and ensures operational effectiveness.
  • Effectively cascades functional strategy and contributes to development of organizational policies.
  • Accountable for actions that impact function or multiple department budgets.
  • Works on complex issues where problems are not clearly defined and where fundamental principles do not fully apply.
  • Translates business segment strategy into functional plans and guides execution. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Collaboration & Interaction

  • Interacts with senior management, executives, and/or major customers which frequently involves negotiating matters of significance to the organization.
  • Reconciles multiple stakeholder views to drive business results.

Education

  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in the Information Technology (IT) field. In lieu of a degree, at least 11 years of experience in IT

Knowledge & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in IT
  • 4+ years of experience managing direct reports in application integrations, data, and event-driven architecture

Preferred

  • Experience implementing and managing data governance frameworks and data quality initiatives within a retail environment, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across customer, product, and transaction data domains

  • Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka) and systems preferably in a cloud environment

  • Experience in application development and integration technologies, middleware, APIs and web services including IBM MQ, Java, and Spring Boot.
