Job Description
The Learning & Development Specialist II contributes to the fulfillment of bank-wide Learning & Development initiatives and functions as a business partner by specializing in training for assigned teams. This senior position is responsible for partnering with the project management organization and designing, administering and/or delivering training to ensure employees have the skills and competencies needed to perform their jobs effectively. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Business Partner
- Regularly conduct independent training needs analyses, conferring with L&D Director.
- Perform needs analysis when business partners request specific training.
- Analyze existing training and perform gap analysis based on metrics from lines of business.
- Solicit feedback from business lines and adjust training as needed.
- Assume L&D Lead role on bank-wide or specific LOB projects involving L&D team, when necessary.
- On projects, be able to work through ambiguity to deliver a details training proposal and execute to finish while meeting project deadlines.
- Train, coach, and/or mentor other L&D staff (L&D Specialist I or L&D Interns), when necessary.
- Function as learning and development business partner by staying abreast of the needs of assigned teams and developing and demonstrating expertise in the products and/or services offered by those teams to support career growth.
- Assist in the implementation of bank-wide product and service knowledge training; collaborate and provide support to other members of the L&D team as needed.
- Design and deliver training related documents, materials, and presentations.
- Review and edit training content for consistency and design, and identify improvement opportunities for course and courseware materials through delivery and proofreading of course materials to ensure procedures, exercises, and practices work as written and meet department standards.
- Utilize all training modalities to include eLearning, virtual-led, and live instructor-led, micro video approaches to support learning. Collaborates with subject matter experts and management as needed to design and deliver training.
- Continue to support and improve the New Hire On-Boarding Experience via classroom and continuous learning and development opportunities.
- Assist in Leadership Development initiatives at the Bank.
- Source individual development opportunities and team training opportunities to continue to grow and learn as a learning and development professional.
Training Administration
- Track internal and external course registrations, completion information, and recordkeeping.
- Utilize the LMS software for reporting to audit.
- Continuously look for ways to automate and streamline processes.
- Audit Compliance Training rules in LMS software to ensure adherence.
- Coordinate the management, retrieval and destruction of training records within established guidelines.
- Coordinate managers and employees to achieve full participation in optional and required training through proper communication channels; administer BAI training for all employees and provide reports to Compliance.
- Responsible for training logistics to include booking rooms for training and non-department trainers, coordinating with IT and Facilities to maintain/update training room issues.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments;
- Prepare reports as required by management and executive staff;
- Work with and assist outside vendors as necessary;
- Perform additional duties as requested, needed or assigned.
Experience and Skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Technological prowess and savvy with a passion for AI and emerging technologies.
- Proficiency in e-content design through tools like Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
- Knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive preferred.
- Basic understanding of instructional design and content writing.
- Background in either bank operations, consumer lending, commercial lending preferred but not required.
- Flexibility in training dates/times. Ability to pivot.
- Ability to train across MA and NH.
- Familiarity with Needham Bank's customers' needs and knowledge of Bank products and services.
- Proven ability to work independently while still maintaining strong ties throughout organization;
- Demonstrated effective human relations and employee relations skills, including patience, ability to establish rapport and trust; the ability to capture and energize a class of new students and hold their interest;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business lines and interact comfortably with all levels within the organization from new employees to senior management.
- Demonstrated proficiency in "stand-up presentation skills"; effective articulation/verbal presentation skills and verbal communications ability;
- Strong demonstrated written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.
- Previous experience in instructional design is beneficial but not required;
- Demonstrated training and facilitation skills, including the proven ability to work with adult learners. Familiarity with the principles and fundamentals of adult learning theory;
- Demonstrated successful problem-solving skills required;
- Excellent proven and demonstrated customer service skills required;
- Ability to lead by example in providing excellent customer service;
- Ability to operate with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree highly desired or equivalent experience/combined education required.
- A minimum of two years of L&D/training experience as well as prior banking experience in an operational or customer service role.
- Prior experience understanding and explaining bank operating policies and procedures, and banking regulations (state and federal).
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Normal business office environment
- Travel to main office, Westwood Training Center or between branches may be required
