We are looking for a Senior Principal Consultant who thrives at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and customer engagement. This is a high-impact role where you'll serve as a trusted advisor to government clients, helping them design and implement powerful data-integration solutions, manage mission-critical deployments, and influence the evolution of our platform at several key accounts.
As a Senior Principal Consultant, you won't just be responding to issues-you'll be shaping the vision of how our customers use our platform to achieve their mission goals. You will be embedded with strategic accounts, acting as a technical leader who can translate complex requirements into actionable solutions and long-term value. You'll build deep relationships with customer stakeholders-from engineering teams to program leads to the SES level-ensuring a continuous path to success and innovation.
In this role, you will:
  • Own the technical success of your portfolio of key accounts-ensuring customers are getting maximum value from our solutions by aligning their technical requirements with our platform's capabilities.
  • Serve as the bridge between the account team and the customer's technical and executive stakeholders, translating customer needs into strategic roadmaps and solution designs.
  • Partner closely with the Account Executive (AE) and on-site Professional Services to co-develop account plans, identify expansion opportunities, and manage executive relationships.
  • Deliver technical leadership and vision-guiding customers through architecture decisions, deployment strategies, and advanced use cases (e.g., data federation, AI/ML adoption, knowledge graph design).
  • Lead design thinking workshops, executive briefings, and innovation planning sessions that identify new areas of value and demonstrate how our platform meets mission-critical needs.
  • Coordinate with internal product, engineering, and professional services teams to ensure delivery excellence and timely resolution of issues or escalations.
  • Advocate for customer needs internally by surfacing product feedback, usability insights, and emerging requirements-helping shape the roadmap of the Progress Data Platform.
  • Maintain a regular cadence of engagement with your accounts, including success planning, value reporting, quarterly business reviews, and go-live coordination.
  • Be a thought leader and trusted advisor-proactive in solving problems, sharing best practices, and driving a culture of technical excellence across both customer and internal teams.
Your Background:
  • US Citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance and Full-Scope Polygraph.
  • Strong experience in a technical role-customer success, solution architecture, engineering, or technical consulting.
  • Fluent in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python).
  • Proficient in JSON/XML data modeling, modern source control (e.g., Git), and enterprise-grade software development.
  • Strong understanding of NoSQL, relational, an/or graph databases. NoSQL preferred
  • Excellent communication skills-you can bridge technical depth and executive insight with ease. Public speaking experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site 2+ days/week in Northern Virginia, with occasional travel.
Additionally, it would be beneficial if you have:
  • Knowledge of search indexing tech, React/Vue/Angular frameworks, or BI tools like Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience in AI/ML, geospatial systems, or semantic technologies.
  • Exposure to Kafka, NiFi, Boomi, MuleSoft, or container technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Linux/shell scripting and cloud familiarity (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Compensation Range: $182,750 - $225,750
This position is also eligible to participate in our commission plan. Final base compensation is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, education, demonstrable experience, and allowance for future and continued salary growth.
