Job Description

Position Summary:

The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all safety, quality, and productivity requirements in a cost-effective manner by supervising multiple functions and shifts of the production team. The supervisor is responsible for following and enforcing all safety, quality, 6S and proces requirements. The supervisor will be directly involved with the hiring, training, discipline, and performance review for production employees.


Reporting Relationships:

The Machine Shop Supervisor reports directly to the Machine Shop Manager.


Shift:

Typical hours are Thursday-Monday, 6am-3:30pm


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for departmental operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals for the organization and its customers.
  • Put together daily and weekly production plans, calculate productivity and cost metrics based on production plan.
  • Daily reporting of key metrics and adherence to daily targets
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to allow team to improve according to key departmental metrics.
  • Maintain shift rotation schedule in accordance with the needs of the business.
  • Create a positive working environment which is committed to excellence, by demonstrating personal commitment to these ideals.
  • Provide leadership in establishing standard processes and tools.
  • Manage personnel performance, including employee reviews, disciplinary action, time and attendance, overtime assignments, employee training.
  • Ensure the use of lean manufacturing tools in the development of new processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement endeavors throughout the department.
  • Regularly communicate departmental updates to Managers.
  • HR functions including performance problems through corrective action and sustainment of job performance standards and objectives.
  • Departmental health and safety compliance, accident prevention, injury prevention, equipment safety, as well as, compliance with all company goals and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven knowledge of machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools
  • Understanding of CNC type machines and the processes they use, including set-ups, monitoring, change-outs, multi- pallet use, optimization
  • Proficient experience with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices
  • Familiar with level blueprint reading and machining related math skills
  • Strong leadership skills at all levels, good work ethic. Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
  • Basic English language skills and ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions
  • Attention to detail and maintain clean/orderly work area
  • Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others
  • MSOffice and ERP system knowledge

Required Experience:

  • Manufacturing aerospace experience
  • Leadership experience

Level of Education:

  • 2 year college degree or equivalent education/experience required
  • 4 year technical or business degree or equivalent education preferred

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $89000 to $110000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
