Job Description
The Senior Payments Portfolio Manager will lead our payments portfolio strategy-managing relationships with major payment providers overseeing product performance, and leading projects related to vendor onboarding, digital payments, and product enhancements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Vendor & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary liaison for leading payments partners.
- Monitor SLAs, merchant and service performance, ensuring strong delivery and alignment with bank objectives.
- Lead vendor evaluation, due diligence, contract negotiations, and onboarding processes.
- Payments Product Oversight
- Manage the full lifecycle of ACH, real-time payments, wire transfers, card programs, digital wallets, and P2P.
- Analyze usage trends, revenue impact, and customer feedback; prioritize enhancements or retirements.
- Report on product KPIs (e.g., adoption, transaction volumes, revenue, error rates) to executive stakeholders.
Strategy & Governance
- Shape the payments roadmap to support Needham Bank's expansion and innovation goals.
- Stay informed on payments regulations, compliance standards, and industry innovation.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure all programs meet regulatory requirements.
Operational & Risk Management
- Participate in third-party risk committees and vendor oversight forums.
- Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, fraud detection, and incident response.
- Proactively identify and mitigate product, technology, or operational risk - interfacing with the Bank's Risk framework.
- Represent the Bank at various community functions
- Participate on Bank task forces and committees as assigned
- Perform additional duties as requested, needed or assigned
Experience and Skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of payment practices and related areas
- Knowledge of department support structures, resources and personnel
- Good sales, organizational, communication and public relations skills particularly in working with documentation that requires special handling
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of credit and lending policies and procedures
- Ability to build strong relationships and alliances across the organization, ability to adapt to change, ability to multi-task, reliable and highly self-motivated
- Superior customer service skills, exceed customers' expectations
- Fluent written and verbal English communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related.
- 7+ years in financial services, payments, or product management-minimum 3 years in payments/product context.
- Strong project management skills: scheduling, multi-stakeholder coordination, launch oversight.
- Proven vendor relationship and contract management experience.
- Deep knowledge of payment systems: ACH, real-time payments, wire, cards, digital wallets.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
