Job Description

Job Summary

The Inside Appraisal Adjuster is responsible for investigating, processing, and settling claims in the first party property appraisal process. This individual evaluates appraisal demands, works with internal and external vendors to complete the process, and applies coverages to the results.

A day in the life of an Inside Appraisal Adjuster

  • Spend your day handling claims virtually from home.

  • Handle escalated claim files that are being put through the insurance appraisal process.

  • Conduct a thorough coverage and handling investigationof the loss and ensure the claim is eligible for appraisal.

  • Communicate empathetically with customers and help them through their claim process in a fast, fair and easy manner.

  • Settle claims with customers once the appraisal award is executed.

  • Summarize documents and enters into claim systems notes, documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision-making process.

  • Research and respond to moderately complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues.

  • Notify insured of exposure over the policy limit, organizes and reconciles bills, virtually inspects and estimates contents damage in a dwelling.

  • Investigates, reviews, determines and verifies coverage/policy information, provides coverage explanation to customer.

  • Conducts subrogation investigations.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in handling property insurance claims required.

  • 2+ years of property appraisal experience.

  • Estimating knowledge and policy application focusing on roof components preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of claims policy and application (all 50 states handled in appraisal).

  • Excellent communication skills for daily interactionswith customers, public adjusters, vendorsandstakeholders remotely.

  • Ability to handle a large pending while meeting expectations of the role, adherence to best practices and state requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess property damages and accurately determine claim coverages.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a virtual fast paced work environment.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient claim resolutions while still being a "Team Player" on your remote virtual team.

  • Clear and professional communication - both written and verbal.

  • This position is not available to Alaska, California, Hawaii, Washington or Puerto Rico residents.

Notice of Licensing Requirement

  • As a condition of employment, your office/area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or an appraiser licensewhich includes passing an additional background check with the Department of Labor.If applicable, you will be required to secure license(s) within 60 days of hire.

  • If required, the Hiring Manager will work with you along with the Centralized Licensing team to ensure that you are properly licensed.

Sign-on Bonus

  • You may be eligible for a $1000 Licensing Sign on Bonus if you have the applicable active licenses needed for this role. This could include Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or applicable Appraiser License.

  • Current employees or candidates who have previously worked for Allstate, including its family of companies, are not eligible for this sign-on bonus.

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $55,000-$83,755 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

*** Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e. commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
