Physical Therapy is a patient care service provided by competent professionals, in response to a wide range of medical care needs of patients in accordance to a written plan of care.

The physical therapist shall evaluate and treat patients; maintain communication with doctors and other health personnel; and supervise PTAs, aides, volunteers, support staff, and students. The physical therapist will assist with education for the physical therapy staff, hospital staff, and community at large. The physical therapist follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The physical therapist shall provide training twice per year for hospital staff and once/year for the community. They shall maintain their advanced certification. They shall

Job Description:

Physical Therapist-Full-Time

1. Patient Evaluation & Treatment Planning (40%)

  • Perform evaluations (pain, function); review medical history.

  • Develop/update treatment plans with patient/caregiver input.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions (ROM, strength, mobility, ADLs, gait, modalities).

  • Schedule patients evenly; follow priority policy.

  • Supervise PTAs, aides, volunteers, and students.

2. Documentation & Compliance (15%)

  • Complete evaluations, notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

  • Submit accurate billing; follow Medicare/payor guidelines.

  • Update goals/plans per patient progress; consult providers.

3. Education (10%)

  • Educate patients/caregivers on safety, exercises, condition, and health maintenance.

  • Provide written instructions, document education and response.

  • Conduct staff education (2x/year); community education (1x/year).

4. Team Collaboration & Patient Advocacy (15%)

  • Attend team meetings; contribute to care planning.

  • Address patient needs; communicate changes to providers/team.

  • Participate in performance improvement; gather patient feedback.

  • Supervise students; manage customer interactions.

5. Departmental Duties & Development (10%)

  • Maintain PT competencies; complete required education/training.

  • Attend meetings, support department goals.

  • Comply with state practice act; protect patient privacy.

6. Hospital Policies & Procedures (10%)

  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and employee guidelines.

  • Complete mandatory education and health requirements.

  • Apply regulatory/accreditation standards in care delivery.

Requirements:

  • Licensed or Eligible for Licensure by the Kentucky State Board of Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapist and advanced certification

  • Minimum of one year experience

  • Basic Life Support.
