We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Business Analyst to become an integral part of the Customer Digital Technology team to execute on strategic initiatives that span multiple groups at the company. You will be at the confluence of technology, business innovation, operations and digital marketing to render next generation of digital experiences for our customers. Engage in programs from early stages, map work onto different work streams and lead the charge to ensure daily activity continues to fulfill program needs while proactively communicating progress to stakeholders. What you'll do:
- Analysis and Requirements
- Develop a thorough understanding of United Rentals business processes, operations and related technologies, with a strong focus on customer experience
- Facilitate workshops to determine cross-functional requirements and develop a shared understanding across work streams to ensure solutions are well thought through
- Provide leadership and take the initiative to facilitate discussions with project stakeholders and SMEs to document, refine, and present business requirements
- Perform in-depth analysis of existing and proposed business processes, feature enhancements to assess and drive work across multiple work streams, conduct gap analysis and provide remediation options as needed
- Participate in customer experience and design discussions with annotations on wireframes and other creative to provide unambiguous detail for execution
- Assist in developing functional and non-functional specifications across work streams; non-functional requirements include but not limited to: security, data integrity, scalability and performance
- Articulate problem statements clearly with definitions of success including quantitative KPIs, qualitative measures and impact on business
- Engage with the architecture group and technology leads to evaluate and plan systems integration approach and determine phases for development
- Possess good scripting proficiency to query data using SQL and JSON Web service APIs to understand systems integration to drive cross-functional initiatives
- Conduct thorough compatibility and change dependency assessments
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation including complex process and data flow diagrams and use case scenarios
- Translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to improve trade-off decisions
- Project Management
- Ensure project timelines and task dependencies across work streams are well documented and conveyed to stakeholders
- Report on progress to relevant stakeholders and identify risks and gaps that could affect project timeline and deliverables
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Determine and convey deployment plans across work streams to ensure changes are promoted keeping system dependencies and backward compatibility in mind
- Build consensus among competing organizational priorities and assist in sequencing of tasks considering priority and level-of-effort
- Quality Assurance
- Facilitate and assist in component, end-to-end systems testing and UAT to ensure smooth deployment to production
- Assist in performing root cause analysis on reported issues, working with cross functional groups to provide resolution
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of progressive IT Business Analysis experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Mathematics, Engineering or Business Management fields or equivalent experience.
- Analytically oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders, SMEs and executives on a daily basis
- Ability to work across multiple work streams and use of diplomatic influence to shape projects and drive progress
- Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision
- Experienced in relational database queries with strong analytical skills
- Experience working with JSON format web service APIs and web technologies
- Experienced with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and related productivity tools
- Hybrid work - expected schedule of: M, F remote, Tu, W, Th in office.
