Job Description:

Perform skilled work on a journey level involving the installation, maintenance, service and repair of a wide range of locking mechanisms, door closers and exit devices, and in the fabrication, issuance and accountability for keys for such equipment. Also responsible for the software and hardware related to our campus card access system CBORD. Work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Functional contacts include co-workers, other service department employees, and other university staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the software and programming of card access systems on both campuses
• Schedule, estimate and work with clients regarding the installation of new card access controls across both campuses
• May perform or assist with preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records.
• Install, maintain, repair, reset, adjust and/or replace all types of locking mechanisms and/or door closers.
• At request (by proper authority) position will open locks for which no key is available, utilizing prescribed lock-picking procedures and lock-picking tools. Examples include repairing vending devices serviced by the university, locking and unlocking various rooms and offices as requested
• May issue and receive keys at request. Maintain necessary lists, card files, receipts and other records to account for all keys issued, received and in key vault. Maintain a file of combinations for combination locking devices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday

• High school graduate or equivalent; demonstrated skills may offset requirements and a minimum of 4-years' experience sufficient to qualify as journey level, with a minimum of four years of actual work in the trade is necessary.
• Knowledge and skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment, and materials used for general building maintenance.
• Manual dexterity and physical coordination.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
• Valid driver's license required.

$25.00 to $29.00 per hour commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity
