Location: Houston TX 77002 (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 months Contract to hire

Job Description

What You'll Do - 80 % of Your Week

• RTU Integration & Field Telemetry (50%)
• Deploy, configure and maintain Schweitzer SEL and Teldata IQ RTUs, ensure reliable data flow from plant devices/meters (revenue-grade MD-90 a plus) to the Energy Management System (EMS).
• Travel to generation sites as the first-call troubleshooter when communications drop or new assets come online.

SCADA/EMS Data Flow & Protocol Management (30%)

• Map and validate points in Wonderware HMI and the EMS using DNP3 and Modbus.
• Perform root-cause analysis on data latency, loss, or mismatch issues and restore real-time visibility for operators.

(Remaining 20%)

• Cross-functional coordination with network, server, telecom and help-desk teams to close tickets, document solutions and estimate costs/timelines.
• Prepare concise action plans for leadership: "Here's the problem, here's my fix, here's the rough budget."

Top Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on SCADA/RTU integration (will consider less if candidate demonstrates deep proficiency).
• Proven expertise with DNP3 & Modbus protocols.
• Able to work independently: diagnose in the field, write the action plan, and execute with minimal oversight.
• Comfortable in a hybrid travel model: office, home, and frequent plant visits.
• Strong communicator who can translate technical findings to operators, IT and leadership.
• Will obtain internal NERC/CIP & plant-safety certifications post-hire.

Nice-to-Have

• MD-90 or other settlement-meter experience.
• Prior SCADA work in competitive wholesale-generation or ISO/RTO environments.
