Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an APP Manager to support APP operations throughout all practice locations.

This role is ideal for an Advanced Practice Provider with hematology/oncology expertise, clinical and operational experience in APP services to support a variety of operational and strategic initiatives. The desired candidate for this new position is an APP who is passionate about working in a collaborative and innovative setting and is eager to lead and able to form partnerships at all levels within the organization and community.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Managerial Oversight
  • Assist Director in the implementation of strategic plans and initiatives for the APP workgroup
  • Assist in the development and implementation of APP policies and programs
  • Facilitate an environment promoting professional growth and development and satisfaction in the APP workgroup
  • Handle people management responsibilities
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation of APP utilization, optimization and productivity
  • Demonstrate leadership through site visits and to ensure APP support
  • Represent APPs in organizational meetings and committees
  • Other duties as assigned
Clinical Oversight
  • Provide oversight of clinical performance, including the development and monitoring of quality metrics, best practices and performance improvement initiatives
  • Oversees scheduling, workload distribution and resource allocation to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Collaborate with practice administrators, physicians and practice leadership
  • Perform ongoing evaluation, feedback and perform annual performance reviews.
Operational & Professional Development Oversight
  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of APPs to the practice
  • Develop and oversee onboarding, preceptor & mentorship programs
  • Implement orientation and continued education programs for APPs

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physician Assistant studies or Nurse Practitioner studies
  • APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) licensure required
  • At least 5 years of health care experience required; preference is for experience as an APP in community oncology, or related space
  • At least 1 year of managerial experience preferred
  • APP with hematology/oncology experience strongly preferred, other specialty experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal/written and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task is a must
  • Excellent computer skills including: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Outlook
  • Must be willing to travel
