Overview The purpose of this position is to plan, direct and supervise the activities of contractors performing overhead electrical distribution system construction and performing vegetation management work. Ensures that all contractor work is performed in timely and cost-efficient manner and in accordance with company specifications, standards and procedures, contract stipulations and regulatory requirements.Tracks and controls costs for contractor work, ensures work accruals are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensuresthat safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy andgovernmental regulations. During overhead storm events will support municipal response group and make-safe crews and focus restoration using temporary construction methods on the following priorities: unsafe conditions, critical customers, and largest customer counts. Maintain communication with New York City's Parks Department and Municipality to discuss the status of all pending tree removals and toppings.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure that all work activities are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies, procedures, engineering plans and specifications and environmental laws and regulations.
- Supervise subordinate personnel in the physical installation, repair, maintenance, removal, replacement, testing, and inspection of overhead and URD conductors and associated equipment of the electrical distribution system.
- Supervise all line clearance contract work; tree trimming, tree removal, tree topping based on unit pricing and time and equipment pricing for storm emergency.
- Ensure Contractor Field Observation Reports (CFOR), Infractions, and Action Lines are properly completed as required in COS.
- Monitors, tracks and accrues contractor labor and material costs to ensure they are appropriately accounted for in invoice and receipts.
- Responds to contractor incidents and/or damages and supports the preparation of the investigation report as required.
- Performs night, overtime and weekend supervisory duties as required and must be available for storm and emergency response.

- Respond to customer inquiries and inquiries from other departments in a timely fashion. Use databases and systems as needed to track and respond.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years relevant work experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Forestry
Relevant Work Experience
- Field experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of the electric distribution system. Required
- Knowledge of the Overhead distribution systems and equipment. Required
- Supervisory experience. Preferred

- Other: International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist - ANSI Z133 Standard Line Clearance Qualified Arborist Preferred
Physical Demands
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
- Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
- Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
- Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
- Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
