We're actively seeking a talented VP, Strategy to join Pacific Life in Newport Beach, CA reporting to the SVP, Development and Tax.

The VP, Strategy is a key role accountable for overseeing and driving alignment and execution of the strategy and strategic priorities across the enterprise. Key member of the leadership team, responsible for shaping and driving the strategy and strategic direction of the company. This position focuses on orchestrating and implementing high-impact initiatives that contribute to organizational growth and efficiency. It involves leading the development, execution and prioritization of strategic initiatives that align with the company's vision and goals, ensuring sustainable growth and competitive advantage. It also involves assessing the Company's market competitiveness and areas for growth organically and inorganically. The individual would oversee the Corporate Strategy, and Strategic Execution.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and execute the formulation and implementation of the company's strategy and strategic plan. Drive consensus and influence decisions by bridging divergent perspectives and leveraging sound judgment to identify optimal solutions. Ensure consistent messaging of Strategy.
  • Market Intelligence: Oversee market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Strategic Execution: Partner with the Chair and Vice Chair of the G6 Committee and Chair the EPPC to ensure effective strategic planning, prioritization and execution of initiatives.
  • Performance Management: Partner with the CFO and Head of Business Insights to monitor key metrics and performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of strategic initiatives. As well as the ability to operate in a fast-paced, forward-looking business environment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate senior leadership strategy discussions and lead meetings to ensure consistency and alignment across various business divisions/functions. Collaborate closely to form trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Support the prioritization of strategic business initiatives, addressing risks and dependencies, and ensuring alignment with business strategies to mitigate risk. Act as a change agent, fostering an inclusive environment for generating and implementing new ideas and solutions, while effectively managing conflict and mitigating risks.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the CEO or CFO and Senior Leadership on strategic initiatives and performance.

The experience you bring:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree required.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in strategy, strategic planning, business development, finance or other leadership roles, including experience in financial services. Project management experience preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics and competitive landscapes.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning tools and software.
  • Not afraid to roll up the sleeves and seek to go outside comfort zone.

Base Salary Range

$290,000 - $355,000

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
