As a Senior Paralegal I, you will collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the OGC to support Pacific Life's Consumer Markets Division, Institutional Division. and Workforce Benefits Division. How you will help move us forward:
Legal Research: Provide legal assistance as requested by divisional business clients and attorneys by conducting in-depth legal research to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions regarding state & federal statutes, regulations, and case law related to the life insurance, annuity, and pension business and products, estate and trust matters, including probate, powers of attorney, conservatorships, guardianships, and small estate procedures. Drafting: Prepare legal memoranda, reports and correspondence for attorney and divisional clients. Compliance: Providing legal and compliance services to divisional clients and attorneys, helping with the compliance/implementation of changes in state and federal laws governing insurance, annuity, and pension products. Special Projects: Participates in ongoing and special projects as needed; working with divisional clients and attorneys. File Organization and Case Management: Maintain comprehensive and organized matter files while adhering to Pacific Life's confidentiality and ethical standards. Client Communication: Consult with divisional clients, attorneys, and other third parties to gather information, exchange documents, and provide updates on tasks and projects.
The experience you bring:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college and Paralegal certification from an ABA accredited program. 5+ years of paralegal experience, with a preference for candidates with knowledge of life insurance, annuity, and pension products, contract disputes, and/or state and federal regulatory compliance regarding trusts, probate, estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and power of attorney. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to draft clear, concise, and well-structured communications that present complex legal concepts in an understandable manner, showing understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation. Comfortable working on multiple projects and prioritizing work streams as needed. Ability to build and support effective relationships through strong interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational skills. Motivated to develop professionally and learn new skills. The ability to work independently with minimal guidance, while acting as a knowledge resource for colleagues with less experience.

Strong legal research skills using online applications such as Westlaw Edge and Practical Law Technical knowledge, including Office 365 applications, Outlook, SharePoint, OpenText Core Share and Teams for email, calendar, and task management with experience in using these tools for efficient communication, document management, and collaboration -- as well as the ability to streamline existing processes and improve efficiency using these tools.

Base Pay Range: The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
